You’ve been tasked to spearhead what is probably the most important event this time of the year – the office Christmas party. For the past few years, you probably celebrated the holidays by outing on Santa hats, ordering pizza, and opening a bottle of wine, if you’re lucky. The days of boring parties at work are over now that you’re hell-bent on throwing the best office Christmas party ever.
Talk to the Boss
Arrange a short chitchat with the boss with regards to how he or she envisions the office Christmas party. Ask for suggestions, discuss the budget, and talk about the venue. Do you want it in the office or go someplace else. Make a list of all the details you want to discuss before meeting your boss.
It’s best for everyone, you especially, if you get an inkling of what the boss expect. Things may get awkward if the boss walks in on a bubble bath party inside the office when all they really wanted was a nice formal dinner.
Choose A Theme
You should also seek out suggestions or ideas from your co-workers even if the boss gave you the freedom and sole responsibility to conceptualize the theme for the office Christmas party. But if the boss assigned you this task, you’re probably good at the job.

There are tons of ideas you can use for this year’s revelry. You can go with a masquerade ball or costume party with a particular theme. Choose from a variety of themes such as a decade-inspired party or one about a particular TV show. You can also go the classic route and have an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, a Hawaiian party, or a pirate-themed office Christmas party.

Do you want things really, really simple? Then throw a Christmas-themed office Christmas party. The kind where everyone dresses up as Christmas icons like a reindeer, elf, or a Christmas tree. You can also ask everyone to come as someone from a Christmas-themed movie such as Home Alone and The Grinch.

Décor
Aside from the theme, the party decor is another way you can showcase your creativity and even wittiness. Mindy Kaling of The Mindy Project did exactly that when she made the first ever Wreath Witherspoon. If you’ve been living under the rock for the past few years, this is a wreath filled with photos of actress Reese Witherspoon. Get it now?

If you’re going with a Walking Dead-themed office Christmas party, you can display lots of Wreath Grimes. Go one step further to the pun side by hanging a huge poster of Christmas carolers with their faces covered with Carol’s or Carl’s faces. How about a “Darryl through the snow…” poster with Norman Reedus plowing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh?

If you want something simpler to decorate the office, why not make them? DIY your way to the perfect office Christmas party by having the rest of the gang join you in making Christmas ornaments.
Drinks

A party is not a party when there is no booze involved. Take this wonderful opportunity to drink at work. Indulge on some wine or other alcoholic drinks for your epic office Christmas party. Just be careful not to overdo things. Limit your alcohol intake and make sure you assign someone to get everyone home safely.
Do Something Unique
There’s something confining about Christmas parties held in the workplace. You’ve been working your arses off in the office for the whole year and going out as a group even for just one day is definitely a welcome idea.
Swim Night

If you’re a small group of employees, you can arrange for an overnight stay at some resort. You can still do games and activities but, at least, you’ll be more relaxed. Plus, you may finally get to see your hunky or pretty co-worker out of their usual office attire.

Activity Center
Another option is to spend the day at some theme park or any other place you can do weird stuff you normally won’t do at the office such as sumo wrestling. You may have wanted to wrestle on office mate to the ground at some point. Don’t miss the chance this time as you celebrate the holidays sumo wrestling at Sumo Maniac in California.

You can also release some pent up emotions, especially against co-workers, by having a Nerf Blaster challenge. You can blast away at someone without actually hurting them. Fun, isn’t it?
Mini-Olympic Event
How about a sporting event? Many of you probably keeps on yakking about being the star football player in high school or college and that they never imagined being confined to a desk. Well, do these studs a favor and hold a mini-Olympic Game for your office Christmas party.

Whip out that mini hoop and see who gets the shoot the most crumpled paper into the trash bin. See who gets to the finish line fastest while riding their office chairs. Turn your office into a mini golf course. Take the team outside and play actual sports and games.

There are a number of ways you can make your office Christmas party into an epic event everyone will be talking about. All you need is to be a bit creative. Check out The Gentleman Pirate for more tips on how to throw some amazing parties at home or anywhere.
