They’ve got their new school bags, new notebooks, new crayons, and everything else they would need for learning. But are those enough for your child to survive the new school year? Make sure your little ones fully enjoy the rest of the year by providing them with lots of love, support, and the right school survival gear.

School Survival Kit
Prepare a school survival kit for your kid, especially if it’s their first time in a new school. They need to be ready for anything to lessen the pressure of being the new kid in school.
Extra School Supplies
Make sure your child have extra school supplies aside from the usual stuff the school requires. You should let your kid bring extra pencils, a sharpener, eraser, and a small notebook for important tasks, reminders, and just to write whatever they feel like writing. Post-it notes will come in handy, as well.
Your child should have an extra set of clothes, maybe a jacket for the cold season, and a teddy bear. Well… maybe not the stuffed toy. Most schools don’t allow toys as they are deemed disruptive.
Water
We’ve been going on and on about the importance of staying hydrated. The recommended water consumption for each person is to drink 8 glasses of water at 8 ounces each per day. In prepping, a person needs to stockpile at least one gallon of water for each day. Make sure your child stays hydrate at school by their own water bottle.
Snacks
Schools are now stricter with the snacks kids bring with them. Some even don’t allow their students to bring their own snacks. If your kids are allowed to bring their own food, make sure they’re healthy and satisfying such as fruits and sandwiches. Most importantly, make sure they have snacks to eat so they can survive the day.
Individual First Aid Kit
You should not only include a small first aid kit in their school survival gear, you must also teach your children to take care of themselves. Surely they can manage minor scrapes and scratches. With more severe injuries, they still should know what to do. Help them out by taking them to first aid class.
If your child has asthma, don’t forget to pack a nebulizer. Have an extra in your purse or car always. Pack medicines for their particular conditions, if any.
Small Towel, Tissue and Wipes
Things can get dirty at school. Pack a small clean towel, some tissue paper and wipes to help your kid maintain proper hygiene.
School Survival Gear
Your child needs more than the usual stuff to help them get over school day. They need school survival gear that would help them overcome any emergency situation. Sadly, the school is no longer considered safe thanks to some lost souls who got their hands on deadly weapons.
Make sure your kid gets home every day by explaining to them the possibilities and risks. You also need to sit them down to discuss the things they have to do in case of an attack or other dire scenarios. Finally, you need to equip them with the right school survival gear.
Small Flashlight/Headlamp
If your children are old enough to go home by themselves, make sure they have a flashlight or headlamp (especially if they’re biking home) in case they come home late. They can also be used to send out a distress signal.

Signal Mirror
Your children need to look their best at school all the time which makes carrying a mirror a logical thing to do. In case you get lost during school trip, you can use your mirror to start a fire and to show rescuers your location.
Thermal Blanket
An emergency blanket takes little space when folded but does a lot of good when needed. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be included in your child’s school survival gear.
Cell Phone and Solar Power Bank
We’ve all heard the debate and seen the memes about childhood today compared to 20 or so years ago. Nowadays, we have young kids glued to the screens of their phones, tablets or other gadgets. Truth be told, cell phones have become a necessity in this time and age. That’s why some parents have no other recourse but to get their children one. Of course there are rules and considerations such as reaching a certain age or level of responsibility, before parents can trust their young ones with their own phones.
Make sure your child’s phone always has juice so they can call you or you can check on them always. Because of this, a power bank is now considered a survival gear. Some preppers own the solar kind so they can still charge their phones when electricity is down or when they’re outdoor adventure. It’s a good option for child, as well.
Identification, Emergency Contact Numbers, Medical Information
These are pretty obvious. Include all these information in your child’s school survival gear so people can identify them and call you in case of emergencies.

There are two main reasons why your child should carry family photos to school. In case of a dreadful situation, your child can be comforted by the familiar faces and lovely memories in the photos. They can also be used to identify children and their family in case they get separated.
