Winter is coming. Yeah, yeah. You heard that a thousand times but it is actually happening right now. Well, at least in the highly anticipated new season of the Game of Thrones. Our heroes have quite the difficult task of defending Winterfell and wiping out the White Walkers and Wights off the face of this earth. Considering they don’t have the luxury of high-powered firearms and explosives, it’s probably best that they make do with what they have. For now, let’s just imagine what the best weapons you can use against the ice zombies other than guns and bombs.
Anyone who’s been following Game of Thrones knows that there are a few ways to kill a White Walker. One is by stabbing it with a weapon made of dragonglass. We really don’t have that kind of material lying around though we do have some badass daggers and other weapons we could use if we were face to face with these GoT villains.
Wights are the recently deceased that were reanimated by the White Walkers. Unlike the Night King and his fellow White Walkers, the Army of the Dead are easier to deal with. You just need the best weapons you can get your hands on.
Longbows and Crossbows

The best weapon is one that you can use without having to be close to your enemy. Hawkeye was at his best with a longbow and arrow in his hands. Darryl Dixon made good use of his trusty crossbow in killing zombies from afar. With White Walkers and wights, however, it’s a different story.

You’ll need arrowheads made of dragonglass. Fortunately, there is a good supply of dragonglass on the island of Dragonstone. With dragonglass arrows, you can now fight of the White Walkers and wights from a safe distance. We’re not sure about Viserion, one of Daenerys’ pets that died and turned into a zombified ice dragon. The zombie dragon is covered in thick scales so a simple dragonglass arrowhead may not be able to penetrate the skin and hurt it. But who knows?
Swords

When it comes to close combat, swords are some of the best weapons around. It’s long enough to strike your enemy down while maintaining a little distance between you.

Swords are actually the weapon of choice of Jon Snow and a host of other GoT characters. Longclaw, the sword handed to him by Jeor Mormont, is made of Valyrian steel, which happens to be the only other thing so far known that could kill a White Walker aside from dragonglass.
Daggers

When you go to war, you always have a backup weapon, that’s why we have what we call sidearms such as pistols and other small guns. In the absence of guns, your go-to sidearm should be a dagger.

What makes daggers an effective weapon is that it’s small enough to be concealed yet deadly enough to do some serious damage. Of course, one needs to know how to use it to its full advantage so some basic training, at least, should be in order.
Hatchets

Aside from a dagger, you can also carry a hatchet as your side weapon. Rick Grimes of The Walking Dead carried his small axe all the time and it proved pretty useful when dealing with the undead. One main reason why Grimes preferred his Cold Steel Axe Gang hatchet is that it’s a quiet weapon. Guns make loud noises that attract the walkers. With hatchets, the only noise you can hear is the sound of a an ice zombie’s skull cracking.
Fire

Not everyone can say they have a fire-breathing dragon as a pet or child. You’d surely wish you had one after knowing that wights can be killed by fire. The next best option is to have the means to create fire so you can burn them alive (or dead).

A flame thrower would surely be pretty handy while fighting off wights. If you don’t have one, you can use a propane tank equipped with a propane torch.
Our heroes are in for the fight of their lives. It certainly pays to have the best weapons available when Jon Snow, Daenerys, Sansa Stark and the rest of the GoT fam fight off the White Walkers and their army of wights. To be truly effective against the White Walkers and wights, one should be able to create weapons with dragonglass. But if you knew how to forge the best weapons using dragonglass, then you’re a huge step closer to winning the throne.
