Like many excited shoppers, you’ve been waiting the whole year for Black Friday to finally arrive. Well, you don’t have to wait any further, especially if you’re looking to upgrade your camping, fishing or whatever outdoor gear you have your sights on.
Backpack
Let’s start off with one of the most basic gear – a backpack. There are probably thousands of different backpacks in the market right now and it’s easy to be confused on what to get, especially if you’re new to the outdoor game.

You can go with something affordable like the AmazonBasics Internal Frame Hiking Backpack. It usually retails for $64.99 but is made even more affordable thanks to Amazon’s ongoing Black Friday Deals on outdoor gear. The backpack can now be yours for a shade over $50.
The AmazonBasics backpack is made of durable polyester and is covered with water-repellant coating. The water-resistant rainfly can handle light rain while you can use the waterproof when it really pours. The 65 L internal frame backpack comes with additional 5 L of space thanks to the extension collar. It also has a number of pockets and compartments, including one specifically for storing your sleeping bag. Plus, the backpack has multi-directional compression straps.
Tent
There are lots of tents to choose from but if you’re looking for something not too expensive, you should check out Amazon’s Black Friday deals on outdoor gear. The AmazonBasics tent is selling for only $67.56 at the moment. It actually cists $100 but the retailer slashed around $32 off the price for this year’s Black Friday shopping festivities.

The 8-person AmazonBasics Tent is perfect for the family. It not only has enough space for 8 people, you still have ample legroom to move around. In fact, you can do some glamping by bringing mattresses inside.
The tent is made of polyester that’s coated to become water-resistant. The rainfly also helps keep you dry inside when it rains while the tub-like floor also keeps water away. It also features a cool-air port and a venting system.
Sleeping Bag and Sleeping Bag Liner
You still need a little comfort even if you want to rough it out in the wild. There’s the tent to keep you protected from the elements and critters while also providing you with some privacy. Then you have your sleeping bag and sleeping bag liner to keep you warm and provide a soft cushion.

The Coleman Palmetto Sleeping Bag is one of the best-selling sleeping bags on Amazon. It’s already affordable at $28.99 but it’s currently $4 cheaper thanks to the popular retailer’s Black Friday deals. The Palmetto is made of 100% polyester, which helps keep the temperature between 40 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
Camping Chair
If you’re just doing some light camping with your family, you can bring a camping chair along so you can sit back and relax while watching the sunset or sipping your morning coffee.

Amazon is letting you do exactly that by offering the AmazonBasics Camping Chair for $5 less than its regular price of $24.99. The padded camping chair comes with a built-in beverage cooler pouch, which can carry up to four cans. It also has an integrated cup holder so you don’t have to worry about spilling your beer. Also, there’s a pocket hanging by the side where you can keep a magazine or other small items.
Portable Stove
You still need to do some cooking even if you’re on top of a mountain or in the middle of nowhere. If you’re backpacking, you should have one of those portable stoves so you can cook your meals and boil water for your coffee fix.

For those into car camping, you can bring a slightly bigger one such as the Coleman Classic Propane Stove. With two burners, you can cook and boil water at the same time. This is especially useful if you’re cooking for a big group. The Coleman Classic propane Stove utilizes the PerfectHeat and PerfectFlow technologies, which lets you conserve fuel and perform consistently despite the changes in weather conditions, respectively.
Water Filter
You should never take water for granted. Simply put, without water you’re a goner. Aside from packing ample supply of clean water for your outdoor adventure, you should also have a way to procure drinking water from other sources.

There are a number of ways you can clean dirty water so that it’s safe enough to drink. You can use water purification tablets or iodine. Straining and then boiling dirty water also usually works. Another option is to use a personal water filtration system such as the PointOne Squeeze Water Filter System from Sawyer Products.
The water filter system retails for $50 but is available for only $35 during the ongoing Black Friday Sale. It is capable of producing up to 540 gallons of clean water each day but this would require the bucket and faucet adapters, also from Sawyer. If you’re going to a secluded area on a charitable mission, you could take the water filter system and the bucket along. But if you’re on a hike for a few days, for example, all you need is the 32-ounce BPA-free pouch that comes with the set. All you have to do is fill the pouch with water from a stream or other sources then let the filter do its work. Just remember to rid the water of all contaminants before using the water filter.
Multitool
As the boy and girl scouts always said, “Be prepared.” When you’re off backpacking or going camping, you better be prepared for any problems you may encounter. One way to do so is to have the right gear.

A multitool such as the Gerber Suspension Multi-Plier should be in your possession when you go face the great outdoors. In fact, you should always carry a multitool wherever you go. A Swiss Army Knife is a great everyday carry but when it comes to the outdoors, you can also consider a more rugged multitool.

The Gerber Suspension Multi-plier is as rugged as they come. It’s made of stainless steel yet is pretty lightweight. Its butterfly design is derived from how Portland’s suspension bridges were made. The Multi-plier also features the Saf.T.Plus locking system. It has twelve different tools including a couple of blades, screwdrivers, wire cutter and stripper, bottle opener, and a mini saw. You can get it now for only $20, down from $29.42 for a savings of almost $10.
Knife
Even if you have a multitool that features a blade or two, it’s wiser if you have a separate knife. You can use it for lots of tasks including for self-defense.

The Kershaw Clash Black Serrated Pocket Knife sports a three-inch blade, which makes it legal in most states. It is made of 8Cr13MoV steel, which basically means it’s pretty durable. The water-resistant blade is bead-blasted to get that gorgeous black finish.
The blade of the Kershaw Clash Pocket Knife deploys quickly with the help of a torsion bar and the SpeedSafe Assisted Opening System.
Light Source
If you’re not going on a day hike, you’ll likely spend a night or so outdoors. That means you need a source of light. Pack an LED flashlight and extra batteries. You can also bring a camping lantern. A campfire made using waterproof matches or lighter will not only provide light but also warmth.

You should also have a headlamp such as the Astro headlamp from black Diamond. It allows both hands to be free so you won’t find it difficult to travel or move around in the dark. The Black Diamond Astro Headlamp sports a simple design but is capable of emitting 150 lumens. It’s also waterproof so you don’t have to worry about keeping it on your head at all times.
