The Recipe Grandma’s Peach Cobbler
There was a time when desserts cooled beside open windows while summer air drifted gently through the farmhouse.
Peach cobbler was not rushed.
It was made slowly, shared generously, and served warm after long summer evenings spent together on the porch.
This is the kind of recipe that feels like America.
Ingredients Peach Filling
- 6 cups fresh peaches, sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Cobbler Topping
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter
- 3/4 cup milk
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine peaches, sugars, lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Stir gently until peaches are evenly coated.
Step 3
Pour peach mixture into a buttered cast iron skillet or baking dish.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture becomes crumbly.
Step 5
Slowly stir in milk until a soft dough forms.
Step 6
Spoon topping evenly across the peaches.
Step 7
Bake for 40–45 minutes until crust is golden brown and peaches are bubbling.
Step 8
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream melting over the top.
Some recipes become part of family tradition because they remind us to slow down long enough to gather together.
And sometimes the sweetest memories are served warm from the oven beneath a summer sunset.
