An Easter party is the most fun you can have with eggs. Well, unless you’re 17-year-old Australian Will Connolly aka Egg Boy, who found a pretty good use for his egg.
If you’re planning on hosting the perfect Easter party, then this is the perfect time to start planning. It’s better to prepare now than to cram later on and end up with a disaster of an Easter party.
Easter Party Invitations
For starters, you have the option of sending out invites to your guests. Nowadays, a simple text, private message or social media post will do. You can even make an events page on Facebook and simply click on all your friends to invite them.
If you prefer the old-fashioned way, why not make physical invitations for your Easter party. This can be a great activity with your kids.
Of course if the clan celebrates Easter every year, there’s really no need to send out invitations. But if a different family hosts the party each year, the invites may be necessary so everyone will know where to go. Plus, if you RSVP, you’ll get an idea how many people are coming. That makes the planning a whole lot easier.
Decoration
An Easter party will be boring without the right decorations. Start with the color motif. Purple is often associated with Easter though you can also use pastel colors such as baby blue, pale pink, and light yellow. If you prefer to brighten up the place, you can also add a bright pink or yellow hue.
Of course, you can always experiment with the colors depending on the mood you want. Let’s just skip the emo or goth thing. You’re celebrating Easter, a holiday that celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ, so anything too dark may be out of place.
Easter Party Favors
Who doesn’t like the idea of taking home a small token or keepsake after a fun Easter party? If the budget permits, get some of those Easter-themed party favors that the kids can bring home.
If you’re just having adults over, you can make bunny munch jars using Mason jars. Just fill up the Mason jars with something delicious to munch on such as popcorn or jellybeans. Decorate the jars however you want to.
Food
If you want to hold the perfect Easter party or any party whatsoever, you must have good food. There are tons of traditional Easter Day recipes you can do such as the classic glazed ham, scalloped potatoes, and deviled eggs. Of course, every family has their favourite dish they serve every time they get together so that’s one thing to consider.
Don’t forget about the sweet treats. Everyone will surely appreciate a nice dessert after partaking on a sumptuous main course.
Games and Activities
The kids and even the grown-ups will be looking forward to all the fun games you have in store for them. For a successful Easter party, you need everyone to enjoy themselves. The children will probably be in high spirits playing with each other while waiting for the Easter egg hunt. Sometimes, however, they may get too excited and become restless. That’s where other games and activities come in.
Bunny Hop Dance/Trip to Jerusalem
Do you know the Bunny Hop dance? If you don’t, it’s perfectly understandable since the original bunny hop dance was created in 1952 as a way for people to socialize at parties. It’s like the conga line where the dancers line up and hold the hips of the person in front of them. They then tap the floor twice with their left foot and then their right foot before hopping forward, backward and then forward again three times.
You can make the participants do the bunny hop while hopping around chairs arranged in a circle. Like in the classic game Trip to Jerusalem, they try to seat down when the music stops. The last person hopping wins the game.
Egg Hunt Relay
A fun take on the traditional Easter egg hunt, the relay version requires at least two groups of players. If the kids are not that many, you can ask some of the older ones to join. The goal is simple. The first player grabs an Easter basket and runs towards the place where you have hidden plastic eggs. Once they find one they have to put it in the basket and run back to their line. Then the next players will do the same until they find all the eggs. Simple yet fun.
Egg in Spoon Relay Race
This one is a classic. You just need hard-boiled eggs and a spoon for each participant (so they won’t be sharing saliva). Each group will form a line. The players will carry an egg in their spoon and walk from point A to point B and back. The next player will do the same until everyone has done it. If a player drops the egg, he or she must go back to the starting point. The first team to finish the relay wins.
Easter Egg Hunt
The highlight of any Easter party is the Easter egg hunt. You can boil the eggs early, decorate and hide them before the guests start arriving. Another option is to have the children decorate the eggs early in the day. This gives them one more fun activity to do. When the paint is dry, you can ask the children to stay inside the house while the adults hide the eggs.
The key to hosting the perfect Easter party is to just relax and have fun. If you put too much pressure on yourself, you’ll just end up miserable. Enlist the help of other family members so you’re sure that everything falls into place.
