If I’m not mistaken, the party animal in you is raring to host a party right now. It’s a good thing then that St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner. If you wish your party to be a success, you need to realize that a St. Patrick’s Day party is more than just drinking beer and wearing green. Fortunately for you, there’s still time to prepare for your party. We’ve listed down some interesting tips on how to host a St. Patrick’s Day party.
Invites
You have the option of sending out invites. If you want to go old school, send St. Paddy’s Day-themed paper invites through the mail or by handing them over to your guests. Nowadays, however, invites are sent through the internet. Spare some of your time to create one using the many apps out there. Your guests will surely appreciate receiving one.

Aside from asking your invitees to RSVP, tell them to come in their best St. Patrick’s Day attire. You can also say that it’s perfectly fine for them to bring booze. The more the merrier, right?
Party Decor and Accessories

Decorate your place appropriately. You’ll need lots of green stuff to make your St. Patrick’s Day party feel like you’re in the Emerald Isle. You can use different shades of green though to break the monotony, you may use white and orange, the two other colors of the Irish flag.

Use something as simple as green streamers. You can also use green balloons but they’re notorious for being non-biodegradable and for being harmful to animals. Go green or nature-friendly. Just use your imagination.

Add to the Irish fun by letting your guests choose a temporary tattoo they can adorn for the night. Buy other St. Patrick’s Day party accessories that everyone can wear or use.
Music
How about some shamrock ‘n’ roll, baby? You can play any music you like as long as it’ll keep the party going. But if you truly want the Irish feel, you can make a playlist of some of the best songs from the best musical geniuses that came from Ireland. Start off with U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “A Beautiful Day” followed by the most partyrrific songs like “Linger” and “Zombie” from the Cranberries (bless your soul, Dolores). Other songs that enjoy a spike in popularity during St. Patrick’s Day include Sinead O’Connor’s “This is a Rebel Song, “C’est la vie” by B*Witched, Flogging Molly’s aptly titled “Drunken Lullabies”, “An Irish Pub Song” by The Rumjacks, “Irish Celebration” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, the songs by The Pogues and The Dubliners, and practically every other song about drinking. And if you want to up the ante, grab your bagpipe and blow your guests away. Or maybe not.
Food

Here’s where you can have lots of fun. Use green food color to dye any food you think will go great with your green beer. How about topping some clover-shaped pasta with pesto or a traditional corned beef and cabbage stew for your main course?

For dessert, chocolate mint creams seem like a good idea. Some drinkers will probably prefer not to have anything chocolatey. But, hey, if it works, it works, right? Chocolate-covered bacon, anyone?

To be on the safe side (meaning no one’s tummy is going to act up soon), just serve lots of meat. The Irish are popular for their full Irish breakfast, which is made up of beans, sausages, bacon, and other delicacies. It won’t hurt if you serve them separately so your St. Patrick’s Day party guests can nimble on some while enjoying their Guinness.
Drinks

It’s not a St. Patrick’s Day party without beer, lots of ‘em. Give your guests a variety of alcoholic drinks to choose from. For the beers, you can serve Guinness (of course!), Murphy’s Irish Stout, O’Hara’s Irish Wheat, Porterhouse Brewing Co. Oyster Stout, and Smithwick’s Irish Ale, among others.

If you’re throwing a wholesome St. Patrick’s Day party, serve non-alcoholic drinks that have been dyed green for that luck of the Irish feel. Also, make sure there’s water readily available. You don’t want your guest complaining of being dehydrated. As a host, you should take care of your guests.
Games
If eating and drinking are not enough, you can keep your guests entertained by organizing games and other fun activities. You can always do beer games such as beer pong and flip cup but if you’re not hosting college students, you may want to think of other forms of entertainment.

A bingo game would work for those in the older generation of party-goers. Are you having children over? Hide the beer and play “Pin the Hat on the Leprechaun.”
There are tons of games and activities that will keep things interesting whether you’re having a wholesome St. Patrick’s Day party with family and close friends. But if you plan to get sloshed and not worry about waking up with a nasty hangover the following day, then stock up on those green beers, put on some Irish party music, and drink the night away.
