Green is in once again as we count the days until the famed Luck of the Irish comes our way. St. Patrick’s Day is known for the booze, parties and parades but it actually traces its origin to the Catholic faith. The holiday celebrates the life of Saint Patrick, a British kidnap victim-turned-priest. He was responsible for driving paganism out of Ireland and turning the Irish into Christians. Come March 17, the date Saint Patrick supposedly passed away, you will need a St. Patrick’s Day survival kit if you wish to celebrate the holiday without worries.
Go Green

First of all, you need to blend in. Choose a nice all-green ensemble to wear to the parade or a party. Preppers believe blending in with the crowd is one way to avoid being targeted by crooks. With so many people celebrating and drinking, it’s easy to forget that there may be some who are out to prey on the unsuspecting.

Since you’ll be out under the sun during the parade, you could wear something green to protect your head. You can even bring a green umbrella if you wish. In case the weather is a tad cold, bring your trusty green jacket.
Hydrate

While watching the parade, you should also drink water to keep you from getting thirsty and dehydrated, especially if the sun is out. You could also do a lot of shouting and cheering so your throat could use some water every now and then.

If you’re one who’d gladly partake in some booze and feast, you should also remember to drink enough water. IN fact, you should drink plenty of water before drinking any alcohol. This will help prevent dehydration.
Snacks

Make sure you pack to include snacks in your St. Patrick’s Day survival kit. The holiday is a whole day affair and may go well into the night or even the next day.

Keep some granola bars and other energy-giving snacks in case you get hungry.
Mints

Every day is an opportunity to meet people and strike up a conversation. It’s great to be friendly to everyone, especially when the atmosphere is so festive. However, you should be wary of first impressions. Make sure you have some mints in your St. Patrick’s survival kit. Pop some into your mouth before talking to someone.
Blanket

Since the celebration can stretch for a whole day, you may want to get some shuteye before continuing the party well into the night. Include a blanket in your St. Patrick’s day survival kit in case you need to rest or at least lie down and rest your tired feet and back.
Enough Cash

You’ll probably be spending a lot on beer and food so it’s just right to include extra cash in your St. Patrick’s Day survival kit. Just make sure to keep them safely hidden so you don’t end up losing your money. Better yet, use a messenger bag or purse to keep all your booze money. Keep your extra cash, especially your cab money, in your wallet, fanny pack, or safely tucked in your pocket.
Phone
Don’t forget your phone. This is one of the most important items that should be in your St. Patrick’s survival kit. In case you end up to drunk to get home by yourself, you should be able to call someone to pick you up or at least inform them you’re staying the night somewhere safe, hopefully.

Learn the numbers of the local police and other emergency numbers so you can call for help if something goes wrong. You should also have an extra battery pack or a power bank in case your phone runs out of juice.
It’s great to just let loose and allow yourself to have fun. Better still if you take every precaution to be safe during the whole celebration and especially when it’s time to go home. The items listed in this St. Patrick’s Day survival kit is just a small portion of everything you can bring to make sure you enjoy the holiday.
