Living in a homestead is not all about farming and raising animals. Contrary to what some people believe, there are tons of fun things you can do and that includes throwing a homestead party.

As a matter of fact, it’s better to have a party at your homestead. You have enough space to accommodate lots of guests. Plus, there will never be a dull moment since there are tons of things to do. Kids and adults alike, especially those from the city, will be delighted to watch all the animals in your homestead. Others will appreciate the plants and trees after spending most of their lives in the concrete jungle.

Since Halloween is fast approaching, you’ll be seeing some homestead party ideas related to the holiday. You’ll also encounter some party tips that are apt for the fall season. All the homestead party suggestions below, however, are all about fun.

Homestead Party Decor

Any kind of party will be dull without bright and colorful decorations. That’s one advantage of throwing a homestead party. The homestead is filled with lots of colors, particularly green. The greenery of your place will definitely be a welcome sight for your city friends.

Another color that will likely make it to your homestead party is orange. Pumpkin season started early this month and you’ll surely have lots of them in your home. Aside from the usual Jack o’ lantern, there are other ways to incorporate pumpkins into your homestead party.

Spring Chef Ice Cream Scoop with Comfortable Handle

You can fashion a vase out of small pumpkins. Simply scoop out the inside of a pumpkin and fill it up with freshly plucked flowers from your garden. These pumpkin vases work well as a centerpiece on your tables.

Banners or buntings are one of the mainstays of any homestead party or any kind of party, for that matter. You can also make birthday or thank you cards and hang them on paper twine similar to buntings. They’re better and more environment-friendly party decor than balloons.

Ball Pint Mason Jar

Some DIY Mason jar projects can be used as homestead party decoration. One simple idea for your homestead party is to fill the Mason jars with colorful sand and stick pinwheels in them. These will act like table decorations while the kids can bring home the pinwheels as party favors.

Party Food

Being in a homestead, you have everything you’ll need for your celebration. You’ve got your own fruits, vegetables, herbs and most importantly, meat.

Barilla Spaghetti Pasta

You can never go wrong with pasta. Kids love their spaghetti perhaps as much as they love eating their boogers. To make your healthy homestead pasta, you have to raid your prepper pantry for some spaghetti noodles, walnuts and olive oil. You’ll also need some tomatoes and spinach from your garden as well as pumpkin from your patch.

A homestead party is the perfect opportunity for you to show off your new barbecue grill. It’s also a good reason for you to work on your grilling skills. Serve some delectable steaks, hotdogs, bacon sandwiches, burgers and holiday hams at your homestead party.

Games and Activities

Children love costumes. That is a fact no adult should contradict. That said, have your young guests dress up in anything they want as long as they’re appropriate (read: not offensive). Your homestead party can double as a trick or treat Halloween venture for the kids.

Keep the party going by doing some other activities that the kids will enjoy. Plan the games and other activities beforehand so you can prepare accordingly.

Yard Games Giant Tumbling Timbers

If you want a crazy game of giant Jenga, you need some time to saw and sand some pieces of wood to have enough ginormous versions of Jenga blocks. There are actually these giant Jenga games available in stores but where’s the fun in that? Make your own set and have huge laughs while playing it.

SportsTrail American Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course for Kids and Adults

A kid-friendly obstacle course seems a good idea, as well. Bring out the children’s inner American Ninja Warrior with your very own obstacle course.

LA Linen Burlap Potato Sacks

A good ol’ fashioned sack race is also a fun activity you can do in your homestead party. All you need is some burlap sacks, a wide enough field, and lots of hopping children.

Be the talk of the town (and local homestead community) by throwing the best homestead party anyone has ever gone to. A little reminder, though, make sure you take every precaution to keep your guests safe while they’re at your homestead party.
