Football fans rejoice! Super Bowl Sunday is here once more and while we can’t fully enjoy the game like we used to, we still can have a semblance of normalcy. By practicing some Sunday Bowl viewing party safety tips, we can watch the game with the family or even some of our closest buddies. So take your Buccaneers or Chiefs merch out and be ready to cheer for your favorite team. Safely, of course.

I know you’d give an arm and a leg just to be one of 22,000 fans allowed to be at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa come Sunday. These fans along with 7,500 vaccinated health care workers will be watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers battle it out at Super Bowl LV and be crowned the new NFL champion. As fun as that sounds, safety should always be on top of your mind during this coronavirus crisis.

Enjoying the game at your favorite bar or sports pub is also not an option at this time. For now, avoid the crowd and enjoy the game without worries by following these Super Bowl viewing party safety tips.

Keep It In the Family

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that the safest way to celebrate an event is to do it with people in the same household. Basically, that means watching the game with your family. We understand that not everyone in at home is a fan of football. You still have a few days to teach them about football and convince them to enjoy Super Bowl Sunday with you.

Host A Virtual Super Bowl Viewing Party

The next safest way to enjoy the Super Bowl is to watch it with your fellow football fans, albeit virtually. There are apps that allow their users to have a watch party. That is to watch something with other people even if you’re not physically together.

Teleparty, the former Netflix Party, allows up to 50 people to watch Netflix shows together. However, the game will not be available on Netflix. Fortunately, Hulu supports Teleparty. If you’re subscribed to Hulu, you can watch the Super Bowl via Hulu Plus Live TV, which will air the much-awaited football match. They have a watch party feature that allows up to eight people to view the same thing at the same time. That’s eight fellow football fans you can high five virtually.

The game is available on other live TV streaming services like the aforementioned Hulu Plus Live TV. You can catch the game on CBSSSports.com and CBS Sports App for free. Watch the Super Bowl on any of these sources and video call a friend on your laptop or smartphone via Zoom or other similar apps so you can still shout at each other or something.

Yeah, yeah. It’s still not the same as having your buddies over to physically high five but this is a lot better than passing the virus around.

Prepare the Same Food

Even if you’re miles apart, you can still watch the game and enjoy the same food and drinks. Make plans days in advance with your buddies. Decide on what you will be munching and gulping during the game. That should at least help give the illusion that you guys are watching the game together.

Another fun thing to do is to have a potluck party. Did I just hear a, “Wait, what?” If COVID-19 wasn’t a thing, you’d be talking with your friends about what each of you will bring to the watch party, right? Since you’ll be doing a virtual Super Bowl viewing party instead, you can just have your share of the food delivered to your buddy’s house and vice versa.

If you’re in charge of sending out the snacks, check out Wisconsin Made to see if something soothes your tastes. They have the Wisconsin Sports Gourmet Popcorn Gift Pack featuring three kinds of Poppin’ Z’s Gourmet Popcorn. Now these three are made particularly for fans of Wisconsin-based teams particularly the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers. If your friend is actually a Packer fan then this should be okay or he’ll take as an insult since his team didn’t make it to the Super Bowl. Either way, the popcorn is good.

If you want to make up to your pal’s wife for the years times you crashed their place to watch the Super Bowl, send them a gift basket with wine as the main attraction. That is, if she loves wine. If she does, she’ll surely appreciate the Craft Beer and Red Wine Gift Basket from Art Town Gifts. Hopefully, she’ll remember your thoughtfulness the next time you borrow her husband.

The gift basket comes with a bottle of California Red Wine and four California Craft Beers. The snacks include butter toffee pretzels, sourdough nuggets, gourmet crackers, roasted almonds, gourmet cheese spread, chips, and mixed nuts. Everything is packed in a wooden crate with a free gift message.

Prepare Everything Before the Game

A true football fan will never miss even a second of the match. That’s why you should buy everything you need before the big day. Since we’re talking Super Bowl viewing party safety tips, you should consider the safest ways to get what you need.

Have your food, including snacks and drinks, delivered to your home. This way, you don’t have to go out and risk exposure. If you’re preparing a nice meal or planning a backyard barbecue for Super Bowl Sunday, order your ingredients now so they’ll arrive in time.

Check with Snake River Farms if they can deliver their high quality meat products to your doorstep in time for Super Bowl Sunday. They have premium American Wagyu hotdogs and ground beef for burgers. Any barbecue party wouldn’t be complete without these two.

If you prefer premium sausages, try the Les Trois Petits Cochons Andouille Sausage. You can pair it with beer though it also pairs well with wine and traditional French baguette.

Of course, you have to be careful when receiving your purchases. Make sure the delivery person wears a face mask before you open the door for him or her. Once you receive your orders, make sure you wash your hands thoroughly. While the World Health Organization (WHO) said last year that there is no evidence that you can get COVID-19 from food and food packaging, it won’t hurt if you’re extra careful.

It’s fun to cook your hotdogs, sausages and burger patties on a traditional barbecue grill. Part of its appeal is everyone gathering around the grill with their drinks while chatting and waiting for the meat to be done. Sadly, that is not entirely possible because of the pandemic.

Huge gatherings are discouraged so you can only enjoy this with your family. Plus, the smoke from the grill may cause people to cough. We don’t want that, right?

Invest on a GoSun Sport Solar Oven. This allows you to cook meals without paying much attention to them. That should bode well for the times when you just can’t step away from the TV like this coming Sunday during your Super Bowl viewing party.

The GoSun solar oven does not require fire and doesn’t produce that much smoke. These make the Sport a lot safer to use than fire grills.

Be A Responsible Drinker

When it comes to drinks, you should stock up early so you don’t have to go on a beer run right before the game. You don’t want to go rushing out and driving as fast as you can to buy your drinks and make it back before the game starts. That’s extremely dangerous, especially if you already had a few drinks. Plus, you’re risking exposure to the coronavirus by going out.

You also want your drinks to be really cold. If you’re having your Super Bowl viewing party in your backyard, no one will be too eager to get up and grab more cold beers from the fridge inside. Have a cooler nearby to solve this potential dilemma.

Don’t just settle with ordinary coolers, though. Try the GoSun Chill Solar Cooler. As the name implies, It utilizes the energy of the sun to keep your drinks and other contents cold. You don’t have to worry about electricity or ice. Simply charge your GoSun Chill a day or hours before the game and let it do its job the rest of the way.

One of the Super Bowl viewing party safety tips that could easily be set aside is to not drink too much. For many, watching the game is doubly fun when alcohol is involved. However, it’s not a really good idea to get drunk right now since you have to be doubly careful because of the pandemic.

If you’re the host, serve just enough alcohol to make the viewing party a tad more fun. You’re no longer in a college party anyway. Make sure your friends can still get home safely, will you?

Keep the Gathering Small

If you insist on having your friends over just like old times, you should first read up on Super Bowl viewing part safety tips and follow them to the letter.

The CDC has laid out instructions on what necessary steps to take to host a small gathering. One of those steps is to limit the number of people at your get-together. That likely means you can’t invite everybody to your viewing party.

Take a minute to measure the space in the room or yard (better if you have it in open space but more on this later where you’ll be holding your Super Bowl watch party. Now take into consideration CDC’s suggestion to maintain six feet of distance from a person who doesn’t live with you. Now calculate how many people will fit in your space with the six feet distance rule in place.

Wear Face Masks

Whenever you’re out in public or visiting a friend or relative, you should always wear your face mask. This shows you care about other people. Face masks prevent coronavirus from spreading particularly if you’re the one unknowingly carrying it.

When you attend or host a small gathering, say a Super Bowl viewing party, do the responsible thing and wear your face mask. Wear it except when you’re eating or drinking, of course. Otherwise, keep it on at all times.

Check out the team’s websites or online stores selling official merchandise. They might have face masks with your team’s colors and logos. That would add a bit more fun to your coronavirus-safe Super Bowl watch party.

Now if you can’t find a Buccaneers face mask, you can wear any of the pirate-themed face masks. The Pirates Will Be Pirates Face Mask and It’s a Pirate Thing! Face Mask, designed by tjpirate1 and available on Redbubble, are made of two layers of polyester and spandex fabric. The reusable non-medical face masks comes with pirate designs made using sublimation print process.

Prepare Hand Sanitizers

One of the major ways of preventing coronavirus infection is to wash your hands. In the absence of water and soap, use hand sanitizer instead. If you’re having your Super Bowl viewing party at home, make sure your guests disinfect their hands always.

However, you really don’t want your friends to wander inside your home to get to the sink just to wash their hands. It’s better if you guys stay in one place. If that area doesn’t have its own sink, prepare hand sanitizers instead. You can purchase Suave Hand Sanitizer Sprays by a pack of 6. The alcohol-based hand sanitizer kills 99.9% of germs and should be pretty effective against COVID-19.

Give each of your friends one that they can use exclusively. Even if you’re having your watch party outdoors, you should provide everyone with hand sanitizers.

Practice Social Distancing

As mentioned, it’s better to hold your watch party outdoors. You have more space so people can avoid getting too close to each other. Also, the coronavirus spreads easily in enclosed spaces compared to open areas.

It’s great if you have an LCD projector. The wide screen makes it easier for you and your guests to watch the game even if your spread apart. A smaller screen means you have to be near the device to see well. That also means everyone will be forced to be closer to each other.

Aside from using a large screen, you can avoid crowding by setting up your chairs with enough space in between. Do away with the long couches. Use single-seaters instead. Arrange the tables in a way that your guests will not bump into each other when getting food or drinks.
